Australian Privacy Notice
Last updated: 5 November 2026
This notice is for players in Australia. It explains how we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). It supplements our main Privacy Policy; where the two differ for people in Australia, this notice applies.
1. Who we are
Operator of the website emberplaysocial.com. Privacy contact: hello@emberplaysocial.com. Provider details: Imprint.
2. Anonymity and pseudonyms (APP 2)
You can try our games without creating an account. If you do create one, your display name does not need to be your real name — a nickname is fine. We only need an email address so we can run your account.
3. What we collect and how (APPs 3 and 5)
- Account details you give us when you sign up: display name, email address, your confirmation that you are 21+ and live in an eligible region, your acceptance of the Terms, and the time you registered. We do not store a password.
- Messages you send us by email: your name, email address and what you write.
- Technical data your browser sends automatically when you visit (IP address, pages viewed, browser and device details), recorded in our hosting provider's server logs.
- Advertising measurement data (cookie identifiers and interactions), collected by Google only if you click "Accept" in our privacy banner.
We collect personal information directly from you. We do not collect sensitive information (such as health information), and we do not buy personal information from anyone.
4. Why we use it (APP 6)
We use personal information to run your free account, reply to your messages, keep the website secure and working, and — only with your consent — measure how well our advertising works. We do not use or disclose it for any other purpose unless you agree or the law requires or permits it.
5. Marketing (APP 7)
We do not send marketing emails. If we ever offer them, we will only send them with your consent and every message will include an easy way to unsubscribe, as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We never sell or rent personal information.
6. Overseas recipients (APP 8)
Some of the people who help us run the website are located outside Australia, so your personal information may be disclosed overseas:
- Our hosting provider, Hostinger International Ltd — Cyprus, with data held in the country of the Hostinger data centre that runs our server — stores website data and account details.
- Google — Ireland and the United States — receives advertising measurement data, only if you consent.
- Our game provider, Play'n GO — Sweden and Malta — receives your IP address and connection data, only when you choose to open a game.
- Our email service provider — likely located in the European Union or the United States — receives the emails you send us.
Before disclosing personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients handle it consistently with the APPs.
7. Keeping it accurate and secure (APPs 10 and 11)
The whole website is served over encrypted HTTPS. Account data is kept in storage that cannot be accessed from the web. We delete or de-identify personal information once we no longer need it: account details when you ask us to delete your account (within 30 days of your request — except the record of your age and residence confirmation, which we keep for up to three years after your account closes), emails within six months of being resolved, and server logs automatically after a short period.
8. Access and correction (APPs 12 and 13)
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time by emailing hello@emberplaysocial.com. If you have an account, writing from your registered address helps us find it; otherwise we may ask you to verify your identity. It is free, and we will respond within 30 days. If we ever refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing and explain how to complain.
9. Automated decisions
We do not use computer programs to make, or substantially help make, decisions that could significantly affect your rights or interests.
10. Data breaches
If a data breach involving your personal information is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you as soon as practicable and, where required, notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
11. Complaints
If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please email hello@emberplaysocial.com first with the details. We will look into it and respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also be able to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). Complaints to the OAIC must be made in writing; its enquiries line is 1300 363 992.
12. Cookies and your choices
We only use strictly necessary browser storage by default. Google advertising cookies are used only if you click "Accept", and you can change your mind at any time:
13. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when our practices or the law change, and post the new version here with its date.
